I got out of towown - neener neener neeeeener!
A short trek to Ashland was just the ticket! After dropping the kid off with family husband and I drove around Ashland pondering where we should have dinner. Payday is a ways off so we weren’t looking for anything high end - just something simple, good and affordable. You will notice that ‘affordable’ is a common theme with me.
We narrowed our choices to House of Thai, Pilaf or the new place called Grilla Bites. Last time we popped into Grilla Bites we weren’t quite sure how it worked. The whole ‘ordering and optional salad bar, but you have to have your salad weighed’ thing just seemed too confusing, especially with a huge line of people behind you - so we skipped it that time. Tonight we decided to try again. Luckily it was slow this night and the young gal at the counter was SUPER helpful for us newbies.
So Grilla Bites is all about healthy, fresh, organic food. Fantastic salad bar, panini sandwiches, and veggie burgers. My husband, after purusing the menu for a while says, “I’m just going to get a burger.” By the way he said it I could tell he was just tired of looking at the menu and wanted an easy answer. “They’re all veggie burgers,” I said ….more studying of the menu……”They’re ALL veggie burgers!” he says. So cute!!!
We both had the salad bar, split a sandwich and a bowl of soup. I must like heavy stuff on my salad because the bill wasn’t quite as cheap as we were hoping - BUT it sure was a delicious and healthy meal!
I think you are supposed to leave having a very health consious, eco-friendly, didn’t harm the rainforest today, kind of feeling. And it worked! - I just might feel a little guilty at the next resaurant we eat at, fearing that I may have contributed to the demise of an innocent gorilla in some distant rainforest somewhere because I ordered something with beef. Yikes! …… I love Ashland! It has ‘IDENTITY’!
