So we have this group of ‘Siskiyouonians’ that make food…..NOT like this….

BUT LIKE THIS!

Terry Lisle creates these products at the local commercial kitchen and sells them at TastyQ’s / Taste of Siskiyou on the corner of Miner and Broadway in Yreka, in the same building as the Chamber of Commerce. I recently bought a jar of her #1 seller the Apricot Salsa. Before I tell you what it tastes like let me tell what an endeavor it is to be able to create a product like this. It goes far beyond creating a great recipe that’s just the way you want it. You have to create a bulk recipe which is far more work than a simple math equation. There’s a lot of trial and error and a lot of waste to get it just right. Then you have to pass a rigorous technical food handlers test in order to get the approval and licensing to sell a product like this. This is NOT the same test your teenager had to take to work at McDonalds! Then you get to do the actual work, prepping, cooking, bottling, labeling, marketing and after all of that you hope people like it and buy it.
Well I’m here to tell you the Apricot Salsa ROCKS! It has a rich flavor. The sweetness and heat are perfectly balanced. I will say that eating this salsa with chips was not, in my opinion, the most ideal combination. It was ok, but this salsa truly lends itself best as an accompaniment to meat and cheese. I spread cream cheese on crackers with a dollop of Terry’s Apricot Salsa on top - oh man - YUMMY!
The other Willow Creek products are Pear Jalapeno Spread, Peach Jalapeno Spread and an Apricot Grilling & Dipping Sauce. I’m definitely trying these next!

Lastly you should know that Terry is not the only quality food producer in Siskiyou County and she has teamed up with these other folks by selling their products too. You can buy them singly or in very cool gift baskets created by Terry. Again, I say YEA for food! “Tina eat the food!”
