Help Wanted

bigfoot

I must say that Ralph Starritt’s work is pretty impressive. This sculpture of Bigfoot in Happy Camp is visited by people from all over the world. He has quite the talent for peicing scrap metal into amazing images. Think you could do it? Don’t say ‘no way’ quite so fast. What is less known about Starritt is that he is also able to help other people create their own works of art. If you have an idea of a project you’d like to do, but aren’t sure how to do it, Ralph Starritt is the guy to see. It doesn’t have to be metal scultpure. Starritt is skilled in so many other areas such as carving and painting. Frankly after visiting him in his studio you’ll likely find that there aren’t many mediums he couldn’t or wouldn’t tackle. He’ll even do small group sessions. Gather the kids!

That being said, Starritt is in the market for someone who is interested in basically doing what he does. He’s willing to train the right person from the gound up to take over the studio. AND he says you don’t have to be artistic or be a ‘brainiac’ ….. (hmmm I could apply for that job). He says everything he does can be learned!

To me this sounds like one of those golden opportunities for someone out there. An apprenticeship with a successful artist and the prize, your own studio and a house to live in (after escrow closes). Is it you? If it is the best thing to do is to get off your duff and get down to Starritt Studio.

This is the front room of the residence that sits in front of Starritt Studio which currently houses a beautiful gallery featuring work by various artists including Starritt’s.
