Last winter I saw an ad in the newspaper for Siskiyou Hydroponics. They were advertising hand blown glass ornaments for Christmas. I remember thinking to myself, “hey, someone opened a new business!!! and it’s something different!” So Montague now sports its own hydroponic, glass blowing, feed supply shop. How’s that for eclectic?

Travis and Natasha Churchill opened this shop right next to Churchill Lumber in Montague. Travis’ true passion is glass blowing, but he’s combined his craft with hydroponics and feed supplies. I don’t know a lot about hydroponics but Travis sure does and he’s glad to share his knowledge with you. You know those countertop units that you’ve seen on TV. He’s got those too! I spoke to someone the other day who claims they get about two salads a week off their countertop unit. How cool is that?
And if you are looking for a special gift, you need stop by and see his glass work. These pieces are beautiful! He creates ornaments, humming bird feeders, goblets, and plant waterers (these probably have a better name??).

What I got really excited about were the lines of potting soils that he carries ~ Happy Frog and Fox Farm and soon to come Root Organics. These are all organic and loaded with great stuff like bat guano, worm castings and chicken manure. Rich stuff! He also carries bags of straight worm castings and will be carrying chicken manure this season too. That may not be a big deal to some of you, but I tried to find chicken manure last year for my garden and had to go to Ashland to buy it!?!
And for you Montague ranchers and mini ranchers, Siskiyou Hydroponics sells feed and hay by the bail or the ton.
Travis has a pretty cool thing going on here. He discovered a niche in Siskiyou County that no one else has ventured to fill and he’s off to a great start.
You are hereby encouraged to head out and visit.
