I love the State of Jefferson! The Sacramento Bee published a great article by AP reporter, Michelle Locke about the State of Jefferson. Even got a few mug shots of our own Yreka townsfolks. Click here to read the article (before it’s archived).

The article ends with a great quote by Pete LaFortune, “the Jeffersonian ideals that the government is not the answer. People are the answer.”
Since we’re on the subject of Jefferson State, this is a great opportunity to give another blog plug. Brian Peterson of jeffersonstate.com has begun a State of Jefferson blog. http://doublexbrand.blogspot.com/ This will allow people to convo back and forth a little easier than their previous forum pages that could be found on the Jefferson State website.
Another Jefferson State topic that should be covered is a plug for the State of Jefferson Band. They’re primarily from Southern Oregon and they certainly represent the Jefferson State of Mind in a cool, reggae kind of way. As a matter of fact they are in Hawaii for the next couple months. That’s a rough gig!
Whether it’s a political platform, a state of mind, or a mythical place, the State of Jefferson is alive and well in Siskiyou County and Southern Oregon and it is all about the people!
