Spring is here!

It’s officially spring! Here’s a little taste of what spring means to me - the first blooms of the season - yea! Purple crocus popping up, the earliest daffodils, and some very special, early, miniature dutch iris. I am so disappointed not to have some snowdrops this year. I think I buried them too deep in winter mulch and they missed their chance to spring up in February. Darn it!!!

The other wonderful sign of spring is the greening of our beautiful Siskiyou County foothills. The cows seem pretty happy about that! It can be a pretty short lived phenomena around here once the summer heat kicks in and that blondish brown color of ‘dry’ sets in, but it’s too soon to be concerned with that! Let’s enjoy every bit of spring while it’s here.

You know what comes next on the blooming schedule, don’t you?! REDBUD!!! Oh my! I can hardly wait for the redbud blooms!! They are the best and they entice me to take that drive down hwy 97 to gawk at their spectacular show along the Klamath River. Eeeeee, I can’t wait!

YEA FOR SPRING!!!!
