Last night was the opening of the Scott Valley Bank Exhibit at the Siskiyou County Museum. Scott Valley Bank has been around for 150 years. That’s a great accomplishment! This exhibit was done in celebration of this milestone and was created by the museum’s curator, Michael Hendryx who was recently named Yreka’s Citizen of the Year.
Guests were greeted by AB Carlock, the bank’s founder, brought in by time travel for this special event. Mr. Carlock handed out little bags of ‘gold’ and whispered to guests that should they have the ‘gold’ assayed they’d probably find that it was mostly chocolate. cute!

AB Carlock became a banker because he happened to own a safe that people appreciated being able to store their valuables in. One thing led to another and a bank was born. Today’s president of Scott Valley Bank is Tim Avery whose picture in the exhibit got the most boisterous response from guests. Below is Tim’s before and after.

The Highly Paid Professionals entertained folks on this beautiful sunny evening right outside the museum. Folks mingled, snacked, enjoyed the exhibit and the music.

Siskiyou County Museum is a really fun place to visit and especially now with this very special exhibit about a little bit of Siskiyou County’s distinct history. So I encourage you to drop in for a visit!
