I have always loved Montague. Many locals see Montague as a low income, run down, troubled town, but I see Montague as a charming oasis in our county and I know I am not alone. The colorful store fronts across from the city Railroad Park just scream of potential. It is unfortunate that there are still only a handful of businesses downtown Montague and that the tourism is seemingly so dependent on the Blue Goose especially when they have great little events like Montague Days.
We had a really nice time Saturday strolling the vendor booths in the park and listening to the great bluegrass by the Link River Ramblers of Klamath Falls.
The Blue Goose rolled into town while we were there. And we got to meet some of the reenactors from The Law Dawgs and Pisoleros . They robbed the train and the bank and Miss Virginia portrayed a likeness of Annie Oakley with her sharp shooting skills.
We had a stroll over to the Dew Drop In where they were having kids’ contests and more fun. The Dew Drop In has a great patio under the trees. If you’re in Montague on a hot day this is a nice place to have a cool coffee drink.
Another fun attraction in Montague is the Railroad Museum. For you history buffs or train enthusiasts this is a must see.
Montague has many fun events throughout the year. Don’t miss the Hot Air Balloons in September!
