Dr. Dunn-Black used to be a family practioner here in Yreka. A little over a year ago she left her practice and opened a new business - Clarity Medical Spa. She is our cosmetic flaw expert here in Yreka now. I visited her office last week and had a facial (I’ve had a few flaws, lately). I was a little apprehensive at first, but Dr. Dunn-Black is super nice! She made sure I was at ease. She’s was a captain in the army. “At ease, soldier!” (she didn’t really say that, but I’d have gotten a real charge out it if she had:)

Anyways she told me about all the things they do in her office. She can remove unwanted hair from just about anywhere on your body, remove sun spots and spider veins, get rid of those wrinkles in your forehead, upper lip and frown lines, she treats acne, you can have makeup professionally applied and you can even get a massage!

So when she asked me which of these things I was interested in, all I could really think to say was, “umm, all of them:)!” When you spend so much time tweezing little errant hairs and buying all sorts of fancy creams to reduce the little “number 11″ on your forehead and shave and shave and shave….. and she says she can take care of that for you in a matter of about 10-15 minutes…. Wow! Granted, it may take a number of visits, but still!!! That’s some serious temptation! It’s like putting a steak in front of a dog’s nose. Mae West said, “You’re never to old to become younger.” She could have added “just go to Clarity Medical Spa!”

Dr. Dunn-Black is a huge proponent of avoiding sun damage. So she has this camera (evil camera) that will show the sun damage to your skin. It was pretty scary and I was ready to buy stock in sunscreen after seeing the picture! Yikes!

Anyways the facial was cool! A layer of this goop….. wipe that off…… a layer of that goop ….. wipe that off….. a smathering of more goop …… more goop…. more goop…. wipe it off…… sunscreen …. “Don’t wipe that off!!” and Waa Laa, a new me! The funny thing is my skin glowed best the next day ~ kind of like spaghetti sauce ~ tastes better the next day….??? (umm, maybe not the best analogy..)

It’s so cool that Yreka has such a professional cosmetic service. It is the real deal, just like you’d find in So Cal ~ but it’s in Yreka! Wow! I made an appt for a massage before I left…. see the next post!
