MacGregor’s Books and Grogg

Coming Soon! MacGregor’s Books and Grogg. Remember that sign in the window of the building on the corner of Miner and 3rd in Yreka? Well for those of you who doubted MacGregor’s would ever open you will be pleased to know, it is finally open! You’re probably wondering what the long delay was all about. Well, there was a lot of work that needed to be done to the building before they felt they could open a shop with good conscientious. That’s admirable and I’m so glad they are finally up and going.

This little shop is packed full of books! -mostly used, some rare and some new. It’s pretty fun if you are a bookworm and you ought to leave yourself lots of time to browse. There are lots of shelves with lots of titles and even a few locally crafted gift items.

Martha & Randall Gibbons are a brother and sister team that stumbled into the book business through a funny series of events that left them with pallets of books and numerous requests by yard sale customers to open a ‘real’ store. That is certainly a condensed version of the story as told by Martha, but the bottom line is that they did it!

As for the grogg…. for some reason I had the notion that grogg was a type of beer and I thought, “books and beer!?, cool!” But it turns out grogg is coffee! I suppose that makes a little more sense:) It’s not an espresso bar, but you can have a sample of their high end coffee and take home a bag of coffee beans to brew yourself. They will also be carrying a line of quality teas as well.

Hope you get a chance to stop in and check it out!

i went in there a couple of weeks ago to say hello, and welcome to the “hood”. I found fair prices, great selection, and ended up dropping some bucks on them for books i’d been hoping to run across. well organized and lots of fun. if you read, go in indeed!
