“Candy, gotta get candy, how can I get more candy…..” Forget about spirits, saints, witches and goblins. The true meaning of Halloween is CANDY! So this year me and the kid ‘rocked the town’ in our punk rocker digs and we were after candy and fun!
Stop 1 - “Let’s go ROCK the Liberty!” There was a great crowd at the Liberty Arts reception for their latest show “Little Altars Everywhere” which will be running through Nov 29th. There wasn’t a lot of candy there, though…
Stop 2: “Let’s go ROCK the seniors!” - Trick or Treating at Meadowlark. This was really fun and there was lots of candy - YEA!!
Stop 3 “Let’s go ROCK the Library!” (by this time the kid says, “Mooommm, stop doing that ‘punk rocker’ voice and quit saying that!”) There are few things in life more satisfying than embarrassing your kid:) ROCK ON!!!! Not a lot of candy here, but there was cake and bookmarks and we even did a craft - now that’s Halloween fun!
Stop 4 “Let’s go ROCK those people at Miner St Park!” Turns out they are members of Decision Life Church and they hand out goodies every year at the park. I got a Skor Bar!! Score!!!
Stop 5 “Let’s go ROCK the Methodists!” This was actually my favorite one to say, buy I guess Methodists turn in early because they were closing up shop by the time we got there. They gave us a boat load of candy though and the kid decorated a cookie. On Halloween, it pays to be last:)
Stop 6 “Let’s go ROCK the trick or treating!”
“Moooommmmmm!!!! Cut it out!!!!”

And finally, Halloween in Yreka is not complete if you don’t go visit “The most decorated house in town.” This place is on Third St and it’s very popular - rightfully so!! There were aliens popping out of coffins, skeletons lit up by lightning, spooky music, and leg grabbing goblins! Scaarrryyy….. oooohhhhh….. oh, and there was candy! Yea!
