The other night I was feeling spunky and decided to heed the little message I had been seeing in my website dashboard to update my Wordpress software to the latest version. Now, I’ve done this before and it’s never gone smoothly - NEVER! But I proceeded fearlessly, thinking to myself, “it will be better this time. Just follow the instructions. How bad can it be?” (I am such a dope!!!!)
Needless to say, it did NOT go smoothly - as usual! I followed the ’short version’ instructions (because I wasn’t in the mood for ‘heavy reading’ so didn’t feel like reading the ‘extended instructions’ stupid stupid stupid!!). Thought I had the update done, went to Siskiyoutopia.com and saw a blank, white screen with the word “Done” at the bottom of the web browser. “OMGosh!!!” Heart beats faster, beads of sweat form on my brow, hyperventilating….. “Where’s my website? OMGosh!!! I did something wrong!”
Too tired and too late at night to fix it. Went to bed (a little distraught, as you can imagine). Woke up with a new perspective on life. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. I had to laugh!! I realized that it was as if Siskiyoutopia had found its true Eden. It followed the white light to the starry heavens of eternity. I had killed Siskiyoutopia!
I considered calling in sick, but decided my “sick website” wasn’t really a legitimate provision for our ’sick day’ policy at work. So I went to work smiling, knowing that God has a sense of humor and all things tend to work out, no matter what.
Obviously, this story ends on a happy note since you are reading this post, but only after pondering the prospect of starting over from scratch (yikes!!), a couple hours in various help forums, and various attempts to download, upload, reload and unload!! I did finally revive Siskiyoutopia!

To celebrate we zipped down to Yreka’s Festival of Lights. We were a little late, but there was a great crowd! Phase Two of the celebration included BEER!!! Being a meek little Christian girl (don’t laugh!), I don’t drink often, but the blessed news deserved a celebratory brew, so we went to the Liquor Barn!
I’ve never been to the Liquor Barn (I swear!) I told my husband it was like we were ‘breaking bad‘! The guy working the counter was super cool and helped us pick out something good and we bought ONE big beer - Stone Brewery IPA and with half the bottle down I’m writing this post!
I’m soooooo happppyy!!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend! and Viva Siskiyoutopia!!!
